Commissioned as a creative partner I worked directly with founder and counselling psychologist Dr Nerys Owen to reposition her existing psychology business Dr Nerys Owen & Associates and create a brand experience that would connect and grow with new audiences.
In this hands-on role I collaborated closely with Dr Nerys to discover and define an inspiring brand story and identity that would set her business apart from the clichéd, clinical competition. The result is a distinctive and refreshing visual and verbal world that transforms your therapy experience from the first interaction.
Dr Nerys and her team of highly trained therapists already had a strong reputation for an effective and personable service, however the visual identity and website did not reflect the expert yet accessible nature of the business. I was approached to create a brand that was representative of the truly transformative and life-changing power of mental health support.
I uncovered the new value proposition built around accessibility, efficacy and human warmth. This challenged the stigmas and barriers around therapy being a daunting and uncomfortable process, instead bringing forward the positive benefits rather than focusing on the symptoms. Feel better, move forward—fast.
This resulted in a name change from ‘Dr Nerys Owen & Associates’ to ‘NOA’, shifting the positioning from a corporate and clinicial territory into feeling instantly more approachable.
Brand identity concepts explored visual territories that communicate forward momentum and growth, openness and positivity.
The visual identity is a representation of transformation and forward momentum. It is expert and professional, whilst also down-to-earth, warm, and welcoming. Visually and verbally the brand is intentionally unconventional, focusing on the positive end benefits of therapy rather than clichés that surround mental health.
NOA Psychology is creative, inspiring, motivational and friendly. Characterful and friendly typography, relatable lifestyle photography and a suite of flowing textures are paired with a versatile colour palette in which vibrancy and energy can be dialled up or down to suit the message.
